About Me

A little bit about me:

My name is Ashley Erickson and I am pleased to be the Physical Education teacher here at Global Village Academy DC. This is my fifth year at GVA and I am and incredibly excited for what the 2019-2020 school year will bring. I was born and raised in the beautiful town of Durango, CO where I spent most of my time outdoors and playing sports. I attended college at Colorado State University Pueblo where I played four years of collegiate tennis and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science in 2008.  I have been a Personal Trainer, Boot Camp Instructor, and sports Coach for many years and then decide to pursue a Master's degree in Education. I graduated with a Master's in Education with a content area in Physical Education in 2014.
My objective here at GVA is to inspire, motivate, and teach the benefits of not only sports and physical education, but also emotional and social well being. My students will leave my class feeling confident and enthusiastic about learning.  I do my best to keep my students moving and enjoying their time spent in Physical Education.  I am also here to promote an AVID learning environment for my students, giving them the opportunity to continuously climb towards success.
There is no better feeling than making a difference in a students life which is why I am here today.

I am also excited to announce that our 5th and 6th graders are welcome to participate in our 5th and 6th grade Athletics program beginning this year. While taking on the Athletic Director position and launching our new sports program last year, I am very passionate about introducing competitive sports to our young athletes.  The tentative sports for this year are Fall Cross Country, Winter Basketball, and Spring Soccer. Be on the look out for Cross Country registration, the practice schedule, and the final Meet schedule after August 19th!  Athletes interested in joining Dragons Cross Country, need to register online after August 19th and fill out the 3 forms located on our Middle School Athletics webpage (a complete Sports Physical signed by your doctor, the Code of Conduct, and the Liability Waiver). Please contact me with any questions.   It's going to be another amazing year!  Go Dragons!!
