GVAC Pathways Program to Achieve the GVA Seal of Biliteracy Award

Dear GVA Dragon families,

As bilingual educators, we know that our families enroll at GVA wanting their students to be able to read and write in a second language. Our families believe in the GVA mission:

Global Village Academy students will become fluent and literate in English and a second world language, excel academically in core content subjects and develop 21st-century skills, including cross-cultural understanding.

Global Village Academy is very excited to announce the GVA Pathways Awards Program which recognizes students who have achieved biliteracy during their time at Global Village Academy.

Congratulations to our 2019-20 Seal of Biliteracy Winners!

What is the Seal of Biliteracy?

In March of 2017, Colorado passed the Seal of Biliteracy bill. This bill authorizes a school district to grant a diploma endorsement in biliteracy to a student who demonstrates proficiency in English and at least one foreign language.

An endorsed high school diploma encourages students to pursue biliteracy skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions office. The Seal of Biliteracy is granted to a graduating high school student who attains proficiency or higher in one or more world languages in addition to attaining proficiency or higher in English.

Below is a list of schools and districts that offer the Seal of Biliteracy. To learn more about the Seal of Biliteracy and its requirements in high school, please click here.
