From the Principal

Dear GVA-DC Families,

Happy New Year! We hope this year brings joy, health, and success to all our students and their families.

Mid-Year Survey from the School Accountability Committee

Be on the lookout for our annual mid-year survey, which will be sent out this week by the School Accountability Committee. Your feedback is invaluable!

Completing the survey helps us:

  • Understand what’s working well and identify areas for improvement.
  • Inform school policies and practices to better meet the needs of our students and families.
  • We encourage every family to participate. Your voice makes a difference in shaping the future of Global Village Academy.

Winter Weather Reminders

As we navigate the winter months, please keep the following tips in mind:

  • Plan for Early Departures: Roads can be icy, and traffic is unpredictable on cold days. Leave early to ensure an on-time arrival—classroom instruction begins at 8:00 am. Every minute late means lost learning time for your child.

  • Timely Pick-Up: School ends at 3:30 pm, and all children should be picked up by 4:00 pm at the latest. So far, we’ve had only three days this year where all students were picked up on time. When students remain after 4:00 pm, staff must supervise them, which impacts their responsibilities. Let’s work together to improve punctuality.

  • Dressing for the Cold: Ensure your child is dressed for winter weather with hats, gloves, coats, and boots. Label all items with your child’s full name. On snowy days, please also send tennis shoes for indoor use. Weather permitting, we’ll have outdoor recess most days!

  • Uniform and Dress Code: Students should wear navy blue, khaki, or black bottoms, a uniform top, and tennis shoes each day. Avoid fashion shoes and jeans. Any sweatshirts or sweaters worn indoors must be a solid color with a GVA logo. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining our uniform standards.

Looking Ahead

We’re excited about the second half of the school year and look forward to your continued partnership. Thank you for helping us create a supportive and enriching learning environment for your children.

Stay warm, stay safe, and let’s make 2025 a great year!

Warm regards,
