From the Principal

Dear Global Village Academy Families,

Your Voice Matters! SAC Survey Ends Soon!

The last day to complete the School Accountability Committee (SAC) Survey is Tuesday, January 28th. Your participation can help your child’s language village win a Pajama Day celebration!

Here’s How It Works:

  • The language village with the highest percentage of survey completions will earn a Pajama Day!
  • The French Village is currently in the lead with a 74% completion rate.
  • Villages can also earn a Pajama Day if they reach an 80% or higher completion rate.

Let’s make sure every voice is heard and every village has the chance to celebrate!

National School Choice Week: Celebrating Bilingual Brilliance

This week, we honor National School Choice Week and the incredible Bilingual Brilliance that makes our students extraordinary!

What is School Choice?

School choice ensures every family can select the educational option that best supports their child. Whether it’s a public school, charter school like ours, magnet school, private school, or homeschooling, school choice unlocks every student’s potential.

At GVA-DC, we provide a world-class education that inspires students to become bilingual, biliterate, and brilliant global citizens.

Celebration Activities:

  • Monday, January 27 – Power Up Your Profiles!
Share your story on social media using the hashtag #SchoolChoiceWeek.

  • Tuesday, January 28 – Meet Owlbert!
Meet Owlbert, our fun-loving mascot, and explore activities celebrating bilingual brilliance at schoolchoiceweek.com/owlbert.
    • Students will write about their superpower in English and their immersion language.

  • Wednesday, January 29 – Thank a Hero!
Students will write heartfelt “Thank You” notes to their favorite teachers or staff heroes.

  • Thursday, January 30 – Dress Like Your Favorite Superhero!
Let creativity shine! Students can dress as their favorite superhero, comic book icon, or historical figure.

  • Friday, January 31 – Dance-Off & Wear Yellow!
    • Dance-Off Competition: PM classes will compete to showcase their moves. Winning classes will be featured on social media!
    • Wear Yellow: Celebrate school spirit and bilingual pride.

Coming Up: Jeans for Dreams Fundraiser

Starting Monday, February 3rd, GVA-DC will raise funds for New Dimension of Hope to support our sister school in Liberia. Our goal is to raise $2,000!

How it Works:

  • Every Friday in February, students can pay $1.00 to wear jeans with their uniform shirt.
  • AM Classes will compete to raise the most money (averaged per person). The winning class earns a S’mores Party!
  • Encourage students to earn donations through heroic efforts (like chores) at home.

Thank you for supporting our students as they embrace their bilingual brilliance and become tomorrow’s leaders. Let’s make this week unforgettable!

Warm regards,

Stacy Bush,
Principal, GVA Douglas County
