Meet Mrs. McKenzie
Hello! Welcome to the 2020/2021 school year. I am the Gifted & Talented Coordinator and Math Interventionist at Global Village Academy - Douglas County. I have over eight years of teaching experience that includes elementary classrooms, middle school math and science classes, gifted education, and tutoring high school students preparing for the SAT or ACT. My educational background includes a B.A. in Middle Childhood Education from the Colorado Christian University, and a M.A. in Special Education: Gifted & Talented Specialist from the University of Northern Colorado. My teaching endorsements include Elementary Education (K-6), Science Education (7-12) and Gifted & Talented Specialist (P-12).
I come to Global Village with a deep understanding of the unique academic and affective needs of gifted children, and I am passionate about supporting these students, their families and their teachers. I have a strong math/science background and enjoy teaching mathematics to students of all ages.
In my free time I like to explore Colorado state parks with my family. I also like to crochet, bake and read fantasy or historical fiction novels. My favorite place to relax is at the beach during sunset.
I look forward to an exciting new school year!
