A Chinese tradition, the Moon Cake Festival is celebrated by eating moon cakes and watch the Moon with family. Below is a video (with English subtitles) that shows the story of the festival.

This week is the 2019 GVA Book Fair “Enchanted Forest”!
 
The Book Fair raises credits with Scholastic Books that can be used to purchase books and other items for classrooms!

  • 7:00 am – 8:00 am

Family Night is from 5:30-7:30 pm

Family Night
 
Family Night at the Book Fair is Thursday, September 19th from 5:30 pm -7:30pm. 
  • Cost is $10/family (pre-registered) or $15/family at the door. 
  • Family night activities include dinner, games, activities and story times.The Book Fair will also be open!!

Movie Night
  • Family Movie Night, featuring “Coco”, is Saturday, September 21st beginning at 6:00 pm. 
  • Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to this free outdoor event. 
  • Refreshments will be available for purchase from 6th grade volunteers who will be raising money for their Outdoor Education trip.
  • The Book Fair will be open from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The movie will begin at dusk (approximately 7:00 pm).
Book Donations
 
Families will be having the opportunity to donated books to GVA-DC students who may not be able to purchase their own books. If you know of a student(s) who would benefit from a donated book, please email Stacy Bush.
