My name is Kim Shepheard, and I am the new SAC Chair. My daughter is in 5th grade in the French Village, and loves her school, teachers, and classmates! When she started at GVA-DC we were still in the middle of the Covid-19 era, and access to our building and school activities was limited for volunteering. I then became the Hospitality Coordinator for PIC so I could volunteer in the school and get to know some teachers and staff. Since then, I’ve been a frequent parent volunteer so I could serve the community in many ways. This year, when the opportunity came up to serve on the School Accountability Committee, I finally went to a meeting and found it very informative. I thought it would be formal, but it’s actually very relaxed, and everyone is open to hearing comments and questions, as well as suggestions, from parents on many topics that we all care about. I wish I had come to a meeting sooner!
Nonetheless, I was voted in as Chairperson, and I’m excited to see what we can do together to continue making GVA the best it can be. Please join us at the next meeting you can attend. We’d love to see you there!
