GVA-DC is seeking two new Student Accountability Committee (SAC) members for the 2026–2027 school year: Parent Representative and Community Member. This volunteer group helps guide school priorities and decisions, with meetings typically held monthly.
Parent Representative
Who they are:
A parent or legal guardian of a currently enrolled student. Schools aim to include multiple parent representatives to reflect the diversity of their community.
What they do:
- Represent the voice, ideas, and concerns of school families
- Collaborate with school leadership on academic goals and improvement planning
- Review budget priorities and offer recommendations to support student success
- Encourage family involvement and gather feedback from other parents
Community Representative
Who they are:
A member of the local community who does not have a student at the school and is not employed by the school. This could include a business owner, community leader, or local resident.
What they do:
- Provide an outside perspective on school plans, policies, and budget priorities
- Serve as a connection between the school and the broader community
- Help build partnerships with local organizations and resources
- Advocate for the school by sharing its successes and needs with the community
