Join the School Accountability Committee & Make an Impact at GVA-DC

GVA-DC is seeking two new Student Accountability Committee (SAC) members for the 2026–2027 school year: Parent Representative and Community Member. This volunteer group helps guide school priorities and decisions, with meetings typically held monthly.

Parent Representative

Who they are:
A parent or legal guardian of a currently enrolled student. Schools aim to include multiple parent representatives to reflect the diversity of their community.

What they do:

  • Represent the voice, ideas, and concerns of school families
  • Collaborate with school leadership on academic goals and improvement planning
  • Review budget priorities and offer recommendations to support student success
  • Encourage family involvement and gather feedback from other parents

Community Representative

Who they are:
A member of the local community who does not have a student at the school and is not employed by the school. This could include a business owner, community leader, or local resident.

What they do:

  • Provide an outside perspective on school plans, policies, and budget priorities
  • Serve as a connection between the school and the broader community
  • Help build partnerships with local organizations and resources
  • Advocate for the school by sharing its successes and needs with the community
