New Pick Up & Drop Off Procedures

As our Dragon family continues to grow, so must the systems that support a safe, efficient, and positive experience for everyone. This year, we are welcoming 65 new staff members, reflecting our continued growth and the expansion of our school. With that growth comes the need to make a few important adjustments to our arrival and dismissal procedures.

 

To ensure adequate parking for our faculty and staff, the parking lot in front of the school will now be reserved exclusively for staff parking during the school day. As a result, parent parking will not be available in the front lot during morning drop-off, and the dirt parking lots across the east side of Ponderosa are no longer available for family parking.

 

To help keep traffic moving smoothly and reduce congestion, we strongly encourage all families to utilize our morning drive-through drop-off. For afternoon dismissal, we have expanded our traffic flow by adding a second pick-up lane that extends behind the school, allowing us to serve more vehicles safely and efficiently.

 

We recognize that these procedures will be a significant change for some families, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and flexibility as we implement them. Members of our team will be available on Thursday, August 6th at Student Check in to answer questions and provide support.

Morning Drop-Off

Before-School Care: Innovation Learning

Hours: 6:30–7:40 AM

  • Park in the front parking lot, not the staff parking lot.
  • Walk your child around the building to the Door C playground entrance for drop-off.

 

Morning Arrival

  • Supervision: The parking lot is supervised from 7:40–8:00 AM.
  • Student Entry: Beginning at 7:40 AM, students may enter through the main entrance or proceed directly to their morning classroom in the main building, modulars, or new building. Classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM.
  • Late Arrival: If your child arrives after 8:00 AM, an adult must sign the student in at the front desk, regardless of whether the student’s classroom is in the main building, modulars, or new building.

 

Morning Drive-Up Drop-Off Only

Lanes 1–3: Yellow Arrows

  • Use any of the three designated drop-off lanes.
  • Merge into one lane by taking turns in this order: left lane → middle lane → right lane.
  • Pull as far forward as possible along the sidewalk.
  • For safety, students must exit from the curbside of the vehicle.
  • Parents and guardians must remain in their vehicles. Staff will assist students as needed.
  • After drop-off, remain in the right curbside lane and follow the yellow arrows to exit the parking lot.

Lane 4: Orange Arrow

  • Lane 4 is for immediate drop-off only. Do not park or leave your vehicle.
  • Parents and guardians must remain in their vehicles. Staff will assist students as needed.

Afternoon Pick-Up

 

  • Avoid Early Pick-Up: Please avoid picking up students between 3:00 and 3:30 PM, as early dismissal disrupts instruction.
  • Dismissal: Afternoon dismissal begins at 3:30 PM. All students must be picked up by 4:00 PM.

 

DashPass Dismissal App

  • DashPass is required for all afternoon pick-ups.
  • Parents and Guardians: Use the same email address listed in Infinite Campus to accept the invitation that sent to your email address, download the DashPass Pick-up app, and activate your account.
  • Other Authorized Adults: A parent or guardian must invite and verify each authorized adult through the DashPass app.
  • Location Services: Allow DashPass to access your location while using the app.

Walk-Up Pick-Up: Door A—East Door

  • Follow the orange arrows on the map. The parking lot operates in one direction only.
  • Park in the designated area, use the crosswalk, and proceed to Door A.
  • Open the DashPass app only after you arrive in the Door A pick-up zone. Opening the app before reaching Door A may place you in the Door B queue.
  • After opening DashPass in the Door A zone, remain in the zone until your child arrives. Leaving the zone may move you from the Door A queue to the Door B queue.
  • The teacher will release your child through the app.

 

Drive-Up Pick-Up: Door B—West Door, Front Lane

Students whose last names begin with A–L

  • Use all three lanes between the parking lot and the street, following the yellow arrows.
  • Open the DashPass app after entering the drive-up zone to join the Door B pick-up queue.
  • Merge into one lane by taking turns in this order: left lane → middle lane → right lane.
  • Follow the yellow arrows along the front of the main building.
  • Pull as far forward as possible and remain in your vehicle while staff bring your child to you.
  • Staff may open vehicle doors but cannot buckle children into car seats.
  • After your child is safely inside, remain in the right lane and follow the yellow arrows to exit the parking lot.

 

Drive-Up Pick-Up: Door C—Back Door, Back Lane

Students whose last names begin with M–Z

  • Use all three lanes between the parking lot and the street, following the yellow arrows.
  • Open the DashPass app after entering the drive-up zone to join the Door C pick-up queue.
  • Merge into one lane by taking turns in this order: left lane → middle lane → right lane.
  • Follow the red arrows along the back of the main building.
  • Pull as far forward as possible toward the back entrance of the staff parking lot.
  • Remain in your vehicle while staff bring your child to you. Students will enter the vehicle from the driver’s side.
  • Staff may open vehicle doors but cannot buckle children into car seats.
  • After your child is safely inside, remain in the back lane and follow the red arrows to exit through the staff parking lot.

 

Carpooling Pick-Up

For carpools, we recommend that all students use the drive-up door assigned to the youngest student in the carpool group. Please notify each student’s teacher of the carpool arrangement and designated pick-up door.

 

After-School Programs

  • ENCORE Classes: Classes run from 3:45–4:45 PM. Instructors dismiss students through the front entrance.
  • Innovation Learning: The program runs from 3:30–6:00 PM. Pick-up is through the Door C playground entrance.
  • Recommendation: All families are encouraged to enroll in Innovation Learning at the beginning of the school year for emergency coverage. There is no charge unless the service is used, and discounts are available for families who qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
