GVA-DC is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment. Bullying, including physical, verbal, social, and online behavior, is prohibited.
Bullying is intentional behavior that is repeated or likely to be repeated, involves an imbalance of power, and is intended to intimidate or cause physical, mental, or emotional harm. It must also be severe enough to create a hostile school environment or significantly interfere with a student’s learning or participation in school activities.
Not every unkind or negative interaction is bullying. Conflict, teasing, rough play, isolated aggression, and bullying may look similar but require different responses. Harassment or discrimination based on a protected characteristic, such as race, disability, gender identity, or religion, is also taken seriously.
If your child experiences or witnesses bullying, harassment, or discrimination, please encourage them to report it by:
- Telling a school administrator, teacher, counselor, support staff member, or mental health provider
- Contacting Safe2Tell
- Submitting the DCSD Bullying Online Reporting Form, which may be completed anonymously
