International Days

Global Village Academy Douglas County holds International Days once per quarter to bring our mission to life:

Global Village Academy students will become fluent and literate in English and a second-world language, excel academically in core content subjects, and develop 21st-century skills, including cross-cultural understanding.

Purpose

International Days celebrate world cultures and engage our students in exploring the history and traditions of a chosen country. These events not only inspire students to learn but also align with our mission of fostering cross-cultural understanding and promoting global citizenship.

Student Showcases

Select classes prepare and perform a variety of cultural presentations, which may include:

  • Traditional dances and music
  • Research projects and skits
  • Showcases of traditional clothing, cuisine, and historical highlights

Each performance highlights meaningful aspects of the featured country’s culture. Students typically participate in one International Day performance each year. Still, families are warmly encouraged to attend all International Day performances to experience the variety of cultural celebrations across grade levels.
