Welcome To First Grade With Mrs. Skeith!

A little about me, in December of 2016, I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with and emphasis in English as a Second Language. 

This will be my ninth-year teaching 1st grade. I am proud to work at an extraordinary school where students learn a second language and develop an appreciation for the many cultures around our world.

Your student will be learning many different subjects in my classroom throughout this year. I will be working to help your student become a strong reader, increase their phonemic awareness and phonics skills, develop their reading comprehension, expand their vocabulary, and become an author of narrative, informative, and opinion pieces.

In social studies, your student will be learning about civics, geography, history, and economics.

I have three goals for our 1st grade class this year! First, I want students to learn in a way that keeps them engaged while still having fun. Second, I will guide them in developing a lifelong love of reading. Finally, I hope to inspire them to become seekers of knowledge.

Important Note!

Your child will need headphones for my class. This item was not included on the supply list because the Edukit headphones broke quickly last year.

Please send your student with a pair of headphones, labeled with their name, sometime this week or next.
