From the Principal

One of the advantages of working remotely in the winter is being able to camp out in front of the fireplace with a big cup of hot chocolate!

This week marks the end of Quarter 2 and the end of the grading period.  Students will be receiving grades in several curricular areas including ART, PE and STEM. These grades are “standards based” meaning grades are based on demonstration of mastery. Students attempt standards-aligned classroom activities including projects, worksheets, quizzes, essays, and presentations. Teachers assess student’s assignments and choose the appropriate mastery level that was demonstrated. This is why teachers utilize a variety of assignments and assessments; to build a large pool of evidence that they can use to accurately determine proficiency levels.

Teachers will be posting grades on Friday afternoon. These grades can be viewed in Parent Portal. Report cards will be mailed home in January. If you have any questions about grades, please reach out to your student’s teachers.

Also, don’t forget that Thursday, December 17th is a half-day for students. The schedule for students follows:
  • 8:00 am – 9:50 am AM Class
  • 10:10 am – 12:00 pm  PM Class

Friday, December 18th there is NO SCHOOL for students.

RETURNING TO IN-PERSON LEARNING

We will be doing a materials pick-up on Friday, December 18th  from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, not for homework over break, but for teachers to provide books for kids to read and or materials for the first week in January (just in case).
