GVA-DC Response Chart.docx  This chart will guide our in-school responses to COVID-19 and changes in the Level of Protection for Douglas County, by adding increasing layers of protection for our students and staff. As the Levels of Protection for Douglas County become more restrictive, the layers of protection/prevention at school increase. For example, when we began the school year in the fall, the Level of Protection or “dial” was green so masks for students were optional.

As of Monday, January 4th, Douglas County has moved from red to orange on the dial. This means that masks are required for all students unless the student has a documented and approved health or education reason for not wearing a face mask. Please contact Principal Bush directly for additional information or if you have questions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Face Masks
Students will provide their own face masks. Face masks should cover the nose and mouth and require little adjustment throughout the day. Should students report to school without a face mask or if their face mask were to become wet or soiled, a disposable face mask will be provided by GVA-DC for that day.

Staff will provide ongoing instruction and support for students on how to wear a face mask correctly. Including:

  • Washing your hands before putting on your mask
  • Masks should cover both your nose and mouth and be secured under your chin
  • Make sure you can breathe easily
  • Try not to touch your mask while wearing it. If you do, wash your hands before and after with soap and water or sanitize hands using a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Breaks from wearing face masks will be a normal and scheduled part of the day. Breaks will include, but are not limited to:
  • When eating or drinking including at snack time/water break (2x per day) and lunch
  • During outdoor recess (2-3x per day)
  • During PE class (when held outdoors)

Drop-off and Pick-up

Morning drop-off is staggered to provide a greater opportunity for social distancing for parents and students. Families with last names beginning with A-L can drop off students from 7:40 am – 7:50 am. Families with last names beginning with M-Z can drop off their students from 7:50 am – 8:00 am.
There are no changes in afterschool pick-up procedures. Don’t forget to bring your QR Code!!

***Please remember that students needing assistance with getting in or out of the car should utilize walk-up both before and after school. Also, masks are required for all adults on campus, especially during drop-off and pick-up.

Materials Return
Please be prepared to return all student/classroom materials to school on Tuesday, January 5th. Materials should be packaged in bags/containers that are clearly marked with the students’ name, grade level, and teacher’s names.

School computers that were loaned to students during remote learning (NOT Virtual learning) should be returned on Tuesday as well. Please label computers with the student’s name, grade, and English teacher’s name.  Many of these computers were borrowed from classrooms so it is imperative that we get them returned and sanitized so they can be returned for in-classroom use!

School Lunch
School lunches are available to ALL students at no charge, every day! Check our website for daily lunch choices

We are super excited about returning to learning on Tuesday, January 5th, and can’t wait to see your kids in-person! Thank you for your ongoing support and flexibility as we navigate these crazy times! We wish you all a very happy and safe new year!

Warmly,

Stacy Bush
