From the Principal

Many Colorado school districts are working overtime to reverse distressing pandemic learning losses. Students at GVA-DC not only continued to achieve during the pandemic, but last year they outperformed students from around the state in core content, AND they did so while learning a second language. Results like these are products of hard-working students and families and AMAZING teachers and school staff.

On Tuesday, November 8th, voters will vote on DCSD’s Ballot Initiatives 5A (Mill Levy Override) and 5B (Bond).

  • This additional funding would provide pay that is more competitive with other school districts so we can retain our wonderful teachers and staff (NOTE: teachers in a neighboring school district can make, on average, $18,000 more per year compared to teachers at GVA!)
  • Bond proceeds will provide more safe, efficient and quality learning environments at neighborhood and charter schools.
  • If you haven’t already, I encourage you to take some time to learn more about DCSD’s ballot initiatives - 5A: Mill Levy Override and 5B: Bond at www.dcsdk12.org/funding

Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, independent, or member of another party, please keep quality educators and the students they teach at the top of your mind as you cast your ballot. And thank you in advance for exercising your right to vote!!!

Warmly,

Stacy Bush
